Retroflag SuperPi Raspberry Pi Case Review

December 21, 2019 by Ashley

Experience retro gaming nostalgia with this Super Nintendo inspired Raspberry case from Retroflag.

Retroflag SuperPi Raspberry Pi Case

I recently purchased Retroflag’s SuperPi case. It’s a Raspberry Pi enclosure that closely resembles the Super Nintendo console. I already own Retroflag’s NESPi case (I love it, and you can read my review for it here), so this SuperPi was an instant buy.

Like the NESPi, the SuperPi case is only compatible with Raspberry Pi 3B, 3B+, and 2B computers. Hopefully a case compatible with the Raspberry Pi 4 is in the pipeline.

SuperPi bundle components

I purchased a bundle with the SuperPi case that included a fan and heat sinks. Assembling the case was a quick, simple process. Just a matter of plugging in a few things here, screwing in a couple things there and a weird step of attaching a magnet to an inner lid.

Installing the Raspberry Pi inside of the enclosure

The SuperPi came with a faux SNES game cartridge. The cartridge doubles as storage for memory cards. It rests on top of the SuperPi case with a magnet.

I purchase a pair of wireless USB SNES-shaped controllers for the Raspberry Pi. They have worked pretty well.

The SuperPi case from Retroflag is great! It’s well built. The dimensions and colors are a great replica of the original Super Nintendo console. I’m very, very happy with this purchase. It’s gets two thumbs up from me. If you have been considering buying one, don’t wait! It’s totally worth it. 🙂
